Born in Mississippi and raised in Charleston, S.C., Rita has always been deeply rooted in her Charleston community. Throughout her extensive involvement with esteemed organizations such as The Women's Realtor Council, the Charleston Trident Realtor Association, as well as local schools, churches, and various community engagement initiatives, Rita has gained invaluable insights into the challenges faced by her neighbors. From grappling with housing affordability to ensuring every child receives a quality education, Rita intimately understands the diverse needs of our state's communities.

“As a small business owner and mom, I know how important good leadership is for this generation and the next. Recently, extreme Republicans have attacked women’s most fundamental rights and banned abortion in South Carolina. This law was forced through largely by politicians who cannot understand this deeply personal issue. It not only threatens lives, it directly attacks one of our most fundamental freedoms. I am running to ensure in November there is a candidate on the ballot in District 41 that will stand up for a woman’s right to choose and protect access to IVF and birth control.” - Rita Adkins.

A proud graduate of Charleston Southern University, Rita earned a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management. Motivated by the principles of unity and progress, Rita has committed over 19 years to serving Charleston, SC, and its surrounding regions as the Owner/Founder of The Adkins Group Real Estate Group. Her deep ties to the community are further evidenced by her active participation in numerous organizations, including The Women's Realtor Council, the Charleston Trident Realtor Association, as well as local schools, churches, and various community engagement initiatives. She is proudly married to her husband, Reginald, and is the mother of four beautiful daughters.
